I know a family that goes to the ER for everything. I was surprised to find that out, I had heard of such a thing, but never believed it.<BR/><BR/>I know a young couple who have never gotten insurance. Their first child was born through Medicaid, the second was stillborn through medicaid. The first child is almost 2, still no insurance and no hopes of that changing. And they basically aren't paying for anything.<BR/><BR/>My back surgery a year and a half ago cost almost $20k and that was just one night in the hospital. I had the foresight to get insurance.<BR/><BR/>Yes, the healtcare system is broke, the question is how do we fix it. I've been avoiding reading any plans becaused I don't think it's the governement's job. I think the remark could just as easily be interpreted to mean that healthcare should be provided to those that can't afford it. In any case he did just get out of the hospital, I'm sure he wasn't at his best when he said it.<BR/><BR/>I really do think that everyone should be entitled to some form of healthcare though. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just enough to handle the critical things. I'm (pleasantly) surprised at how quick he was in and out. I'm also glad he stayed in DC to cast his vote. It says a lot for his dedication to his consituency.<BR/><BR/>However, I take issue with his comment "Everyone deserves quality healthcare in this country.”<BR/><BR/>Why not say "Everyone deserves quality transportation in this country.” I could use a new car.
