Jeb Bush Jr. Apparently Forgot To Stop And Think
The Rudy Giuliani campaign announced a huge endorsement today according to MSNBC. Apparently they've secured the support of Jeb Bush Jr., the son of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
Why is this news? Look at the following MSNBC story, specifically the part after the big green "Update".
From NBC's Mark Murray
The Giuliani campaign announced today that Jeb Bush Jr. -- the son of the former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who is President George W. Bush's brother -- has endorsed Giuliani. But there appears to be a split in the family. Jeb Bush Jr.'s more famous brother -- George P. Bush -- previously endorsed Fred Thompson.
*** UPDATE *** This is the same Jeb Bush Jr. who was caught having sex in a car in a Tallahassee, Fla., mall parking lot in 2000 when he was 16 (no charges were filed) and charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest in Austin, Texas in 2005.
You know, you'd think that they'd check on stuff like that before announcing an endorsement.

Not sure what should have been checked out more thoroughly.
The fact that Jeb Bush Jr and his brother caused a "split in the family"? - Aren't each entitled to their own opinion?
The fact that Giuliani received an endorsement from someone who was caught having sex in a car? Don't we have a candidate who is supported by a former president who was caught having sex in his office? (I'm assuming she has his endorsement)
I do agree with your comment "Why is this in the news?" I'd also say "Why is this in your blog?"
It would seem that I posted this without an entire paragraph.
The title alludes to the fact that Jeb Bush Jr. set himself up for criticism when he decided to get involved in the race. If he had stayed out of it then his past would have been a personal matter.
I also think it speaks poorly of a campaign for them to openly announce an endorsement from someone with such a colorful past.
Everyone deserves a second chance, but with two arrests this guy needs to prove that he's changed before he can make a credible endorsement.
As for your last question it's a pretty simple answer, it was a slow news day (at least at the time I wrote the post).
