Keep On Slacking...
I've been pretty busy the last few days and the blog (I really, really hate that word) was moved to the back burner for a few days. Here's what going on:
- Charlie Wilson's office released a final version of his work period schedule. You can find the events in his calendar page.
- Zack Space recently wrote a column that appeared in the Newark Advocate yesterday about his first seven months in office. You can also read a recent press release on the same topic here.
- Don't try to be an environmentalist in Brazil.
- Anyone going to the Monroe County Democratic Bar-B-Q tomorrow? I'll be there.
- Dennis Kucinich's presidential run may be a joke but this isn't funny.

Don't try to be an environmentalist in Brazil. 1) He tried to sell naming rights, when he has no such authority (fraud). 2) He kept wild animals at his home (directly against the law, possibly endangering people and other animals). 3) He sold equpment that wasn't his (theft). 4) And he nor his lawyer attended the sentencing hearing (stupid). And then it says he was taken without noticed. Can you say DUH!
Sounds like he was snubbing his nose at authority and thought that because he was a scientist in the international community, he didn't have to follow the laws of one community. I don't know if his sentence was stiff under Brazil standards, but the attitude in the article was such that I could agree with the penalty.
As for Kucinich's presidential run, I agree vandalism of his office is no joke. The article was poorly written, it made assertions in the headlines that even the body stated were not likely to be true. But his candidacy should be treated with the same respect as all the others and vandalism is never an appropriate.
And why do you hate the word blog? I have an image of something from a B-SciFi movie, you know, the Blog from the deep lagoon or something...

While I admit I didn't read the story as thoroughly as I should have, I still think that a 16 year sentence is completely unjustified.
As for Kucinich I realized that there's no evidence that the vandalism is tied to his stance on gay rights. It's an idiotic thing to do regardless of the reason.
As for the word blog there's two reasons:
1.)You hit the nail right on the head. It reminds me of "The Blob", a 1953 SciFi movie.
2.) It doesn't describe what a blog is. It's short for weblog but I don't think people would get that if they weren't told that.
