FEMA Acts Fast... To Evict

FEMA seems to have learned the wrong lesson from its slow response to Hurricane Katrina. FEMA recently evicted around 58 families living in a FEMA trailer park by telling residents that they had to pack up and move within 48 hours.

HAMMOND, La. - Shortly after noon, FEMA agents began rapping on the trailer doors, their knocks resounding inside the tinny white homes. Everyone in the park, the agents announced without warning, would have to pack and leave within 48 hours.

This is exactly why Fox News is needed. Only bad news about FEMA. Why were there no news feeds on your blog about FEMA's response to the tornadoes? They responded quickly, and from what limited accounts I can find, efficiently.

Same goes for Iraq. Only bad news out of Iraq. What about the schools and hospitals that are being rebuilt?

What about the stories out of Latin America of the people lined up to cheer the president? No, we only get stories about the jeers he gets.

Where's the balance? Oh yeah, it's on Fox...

Sure they responded quickly in Florida but that was hardly the disaster that Katrina was. the tornado's hit a relatively small area and caused far less damage (sure it was a tragedy but I'm looking at it from a purely logistical standpoint).

Hospitals and schools in Iraq? How much do they cost to build? How long will they last before one group or the other blows it up? Are the people using it or are they to afraid? There are some hospitals where Shia death squads roam the halls dragging Sunni's out of their rooms and killing them.

Where's the balance on Fox? Colmes is a joke, they try and pass him off as a liberal even though he describes himself as a moderate. MSNBC has Tucker and Joe Scarborough, what does Fox have?

Give credit where credit is due. The FEMA that responded to the tornadoes is not the same FEMA that responded to Katrina. That's a very positive start.

Katrina response was excuseless (if that's a word). The blame should be shared by a lot of people and organizations, but they are all to blame. Some heads should (and did) roll in FEMA and the response shouldn't start there. Unfortunately, some heads that should have rolled in New Orleans, didn't.

As for hospitals in Iraq being blown up, is that a reason not to build them? If Shia death squads commit atrocities in them, should we just ignore them and build no more? Heaven forbid. As humans (not Americans, but humans) we have an obligation to help out our fellow man buy aiding the sick and the children. Ignore for the moment whether we should have gone in to begin with. We did, it's a mess (although we might disagree on the reasons). Let's do all we can to help. The alternative is to be an isolationist (see US History circa 1930's).

Finally to the balance on Fox. This is (one case) where Rush Limbaugh has it right. Fox IS the balance. Whether it's CBS' Dan Rather creating his own facts to prove his points or ABC blowing up cars, the "mainstream" media has been very left leaning for years. Think of Lady Justice holding the scales, CBS, ABC, NBC, et. al. on one side, Fox on the other.

Yes Fox is very right wing. Not as far as Rush Limbaugh, but very right wing. Anyone who thinks that Fox provides its own balance is only misleading themself.

But Fox serves a purpose in providing an alternate view of the same stories. A view that you won't see on the other major networks.

As for MSNBC, I have to confess I haven't watched it. When I do find time to watch the news, I typically watch one of the big three (but almost never CBS). Fox comes quickly after that. Also, Headline News is top of my list, because you get a quick update in 30 minutes.
