BREAKING: John Edwards To Announce Run For President

John Edwards is planning on announcing a 2008 run for the presidency towards the end of this month.

I was lucky enough to see Edwards speak during the '04 election run-up and I liked what I heard. The fact that his parents were regular, working class people really helped him connect with the Ohio Valley.

Last I heard though, he still owe's $300,000 from his last run. That could potentially make it hard for him to raise money.

It also seems certain now that Evan Bayh has decided to not make a presidential run.

yes, his parents were real working class. There's some question as to where he actually grew up (forgot the details, but as it was my hope state there were questions). But look at how he made his money! Suing the pants off other people and taking 1/2 of the "winnings" from the poor people he represented.

Note that Edwards couldn't carry his home state in the election. And he did even poorer in the state where he was raised (SC).

Well first off, there is no such thing as a perfect candidate. I'm sure Edwards has his flaws and his law career may not play well with the working class, but his early life does. Kerry was seen as just another rich New Englander around the Ohio Valley but having Edwards, with his working class background and being first in his family to attend collage, gave him some credibility in our area.

Interesting. SC is a very red state. His working class background didn't play well. Ohio was a strong battleground state and it did play well.

I have yet to read any post-election critiques that I felt were un-biased, it would be interesting to hear some analysis.
