Ted Stevens Drops Hold Again
Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) has once again dropped his "secret hold" on the pork transparency bill. Stevens and West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd (D) had previously been discovered as having holds on the bill. Stevens, who is infamous for his $200 million "Bridge to Nowhere" project, claimed the $15 million price tag on the bill was too high. Byrd claimed to have placed his hold so that there would be time to debate the issue. Both had dropped their holds though Stevens temporarily replaced his.
Though Senator Stevens has withdrawn his hold the bill is still being held up as another unknown Democrat has placed a new hold on the bill.
